Kalyan to Taloja Metro 12 Construction Commences, Inaugurated by Chief Minister

Kalyan:
The long-awaited construction of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority's (MMRDA) 'Kalyan – Dombivli – Taloja Metro 12' route, connecting Thane and Navi Mumbai, finally commenced yesterday. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated the work in a ceremony held at the Premier Maidan in Dombivli.

The 'Metro 12' project holds significant importance within the ambit of MMRDA's extensive 337 km metro project. Spanning 20.75 km from Kalyan to Taloja, this route encompasses 19 metro stations, strategically placed to enhance connectivity across the region. Notable stations along this route include Kalyan, APMC Kalyan, Ganesh Nagar, Pisavali Gaon, Golawli, Dombivli MIDC, Sonarpada, Manpada, Hedutne, Kologaon, Nilje Gaon, Vadvali, Bale, Vaklan, Turbhe, Pisarve Depot, Pisarve, and Taloja.

An extension of the 'Thane – Bhiwandi – Kalyan Metro 5' route, the 'Metro 12' project promises to bridge crucial gaps in transportation infrastructure, facilitating seamless connectivity between the important cities of Thane and Navi Mumbai.

Car Shed Solution:

Addressing the logistical challenge of a car shed, initially proposed on private land in Pisarve, Navi Mumbai, MMRDA sought an alternative site due to procedural complexities and financial constraints. Subsequently, approximately 45 hectares of land has been acquired at Nilje-Niljepada for this purpose. This proactive approach underscores MMRDA's commitment to streamlining project implementation and addressing potential hurdles in advance.

Commencement of Work:

Following a competitive bidding process, Gawar Construction Limited emerged as the successful bidder, securing the contract for the construction of the 'Metro 12' route. With this milestone achieved, the actual work on the project is set to commence, marking a significant step forward in enhancing Mumbai's urban transport infrastructure.

As the 'Metro 12' project gains momentum, it heralds a new era of connectivity and accessibility, promising to transform commuting experiences for residents across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
