Supreme Court Provides Relief to Sharad Pawar Group in Symbol Dispute

New Delhi:
The confusion surrounding the party symbol of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has reached the doors of the Supreme Court. In a hearing held today, the Supreme Court issued several instructions regarding the dispute between factions led by Sharad Pawar and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

The court rejected Sharad Pawar's plea to freeze the clock symbol, citing concerns about potential confusion among voters. Instead, the watch will serve as the symbol for Ajit Pawar's faction. However, the court specified that this usage is contingent upon the final verdict on the matter. Additionally, the court directed the Election Commission to officially recognize the "trumpet player" symbol as the emblem for the Sharad Pawar-led group.

Under these directives, the Sharad Pawar group can utilize the trumpet player symbol in both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Importantly, the Supreme Court emphasized that this symbol should remain exclusive to the Sharad Pawar faction and cannot be allocated to any other party.

The court's instructions aim to mitigate confusion and ensure clarity in the upcoming elections, providing a temporary resolution to the symbol dispute within the NCP.
